Today, on August 9th according to the new calendar, Serbian Orthodox Church and its followers celebrate the holiday dedicated to Saint Panteleimon. 

It is believed that his remains, which are in the Monastery of Hilandar, are miraculous, as well as his icon. He is highly revered among Serbian people. 

His name means all-merciful. He is the protector of the medical doctors and chemists, and there are numerous testimonies of his healing powers. 

The City Municipality of Pantelej, today, on the date of its foundation, celebrates Saint Panteleimon as its official celebration (Slava) and the Day of the Municipality.
