State Ceremony at Chegar

The state ceremony traditionally held on May 31st, the day of the famous Battle of Chegar, organized by the Ministry in charge, the City of Nis and the City Municipality of Pantelej was conducted to symbolically commemorate the 208th anniversary of the important historical event at the Hill of Chegar. In accordance with the national calendar  of significant historical dates was celebrated by highest military honors and laying the wreaths on the Monument at Chegar. The wreaths were laid by the Governmen officials, the representatives of the Ministry of Defence, Serbian Military, Ministry of Interior, District of Nisava, Municipality of Svilajnac, representatives of Association of descendants from Svilajnac and Nis, SUBNOR and many other oragnisations of civil society and political associations. On behalf of the City Municipality of Pantelej, on the territory of which is located the venue of the famous Battle of Chegar, the wreaths were laid down by the President of the City Municipality of Pantelej, Bratimir Vasiljevic, Deputy President Aleksandar Milosavljevic and the President of the Assembly, Srdjan Nesic. The members of the municipal management, during the morning hours, attended the religious ceremonies and wakes in honours of the heroes of Chegar at the Scull Tower Chapel and St.Petka Church at the foot of the Hill of Chegar.
